Japan 13 - 27 Mar 2016 Day 13 - Nara Tokyo Ichiran Ramen

We were so into the idea of making full use of the JR passes that we decided to do a day trip into Nara from Tokyo to visit the hundreds of deer roaming around Nara Park. We hadn't planned to do that as part of the Kyoto itinerary and since we had days to spare in Tokyo, we decided to go.

Looks so niceee

My beef rice bowl, it was ok
But I wouldn't take a round trip from Tokyo to Nara and back again. The trip takes approximately 5 hours each way, which makes that 10hrs or so in total, and it was just not worth that travelling time for me. It would have been very ok as part of our Kyoto itinerary.

Finally reached Nara

We had intended to walk from Nara station to Nara Park, however it was so cold that we decided to buy the 1 day bus pass for 500yen. It was a good deal because the buses cost about 230 -  240yen per trip.

Once we got off the bus, a few deer were loitering around and watching us carefully to assess if we had food. Once it was clear we had no food.. We were treated dismissively.

Got food?
No?  Ignore
Walk right under your nose
Talk to my back
Look at all e deer themed snacks
This looked so good I had to try it
Sadly only the strawberry was good
Deer poooopppp, omg

One of the highlights of the Nara trip!
One of the lowlights of the Nara trip. I almost got an MSG reaction.
Waited a long time under the sun to catch a shot without people walking past
Getting late, time to get back. 5 hrs trip..
This kind of sums up Nara - Temple/Shrine and Deer haha
Saw Malebranche at Kyoto Statiom on e way back. If omly i found it earlier!
Pigeon that made my day at e Kyoto Station
And to wrap off the day, I took a walk to Ichiran Ikebukuro branch for the ichiran ramen! Hooray!

Ichiran Ichiran Ichiran
Ushered to a tiny cubicle with a screen in front
Sneaked a peek under e screens. This is the staff serving behind it!
Finally! My Ichiran Ramen!

I didn't really like the noodles since they were the non springy type. But I really really loved the soup at Ichiran. It's very tasty yet not too salty and overpowering. Thinking of it makes me want to eat it again!
