This was a somewhat impromptu trip with two of my colleagues and happened because 天时地利人和. It was the first time travelling together and i was excited though slightly worried that we may fall out during the trip. I couldn't be more wrong, because we were all good to travel with. Thanks ladies for the great trip!
Trip $$$$$ (mine)
Air ticket (Scoot) - $226
Accommodation (Centara Watergate) -$150
On trip budget -$400
We booked Scoot to Suvarnabhumi Airport and decided on Centara Watergate @ Pratunam to satisfy the nice hotel toilet people lols.
The flight was a 6.50am flight and we would reach at 9.50am bkk time. I was excited to fly into Suvarnabhumi Airport. It gives me a nostalgic feeling as it was one of the first overseas airports I flew into. It is also connected to the city via a train service. So, Suvarnabhumi Airport.. I Like.
Huloo BKK!
Day 1 - Chatuchak Market / Union Mall / Rot Fai Ratchada
Waited quite abit to check in at Centara Watergate. The lobby looks pretty but the air-conditioning was totally not enough to keep the heat away. I actually perspired.

On the way to the BTS station, we popped by Sabsab to check out the queue. It's longer than ever.
When I came to BKK 5 or 6 years ago, there was no queue outside Sabsab. We kind of just decided to try the noodles cos it was near our hotel and we tot it was not bad, though I recall thinking that the portion is like.. Small??? Now that 80% of the Singaporeans who visit BKK know of it, the queue gets longer, the service gets fiercer and the portion gets even smaller.

It's Big. |
Chatuchak was its usual crowded self but the fantastic thing was that it was quite cloudy and we were spared from the sun. I also got to drink thr Number One Brand Milk Tea at Mochit BTS station. Yay.. We walked about Chatuchak abit, and I went looking for dog collars at Dajie's request.
Finally found the blue camo print one. It had a bell which I didn't want. So i told the shop keeper, I don't want the bell, and he went 'sure!!' and promptly removed the bell for me. Thinking back, I am quite amused at the shop keeper's flexibility.
When at Chatuchak, definitely must eat that coconut ice cream cos it comes with coconut juice (Though they seem to be more tight fisted with the juice now - 1 cup for 1 ice cream only)
And after Chatuchak, it's on to Union Mall.
I found Union Mall very so-so. Some of the clothes are quite special but most of them are overpriced. The best thing about Union Mall is probably the 12baht boat noodles at level 4 and Hollys Coffee's Sweet Potato Latte heh.
We were quite amused that it was so humid outside and yet we were all shivering after eating the giganormoustic bingsoo at Hollys Coffee. Didn't take any good pictures as I was too busy eating and shivering away.
After resting abit, we detoured to MK Resturant within Union Mall because I've always wanted to try the food there. We got the duck and some items for the steamboat. Ok it doesn't look like some only, but it was really less than it looks.
The duck (above pic) was yummy and very affordably priced but, too cold. If only it was served hot, i would give it more points. The steamboat was quite normal but surprisingly the soup became realllyyyyy yummmy at the end of our short steamboat!! The star of the steamboat is confirms the marinated chicken with raw egg. So BOOMS,we ordered another plate.
After the steamboat, really felt like just lying on the floor and stone there. But we had to still move on towards Rot Fai Market (Ratchada). We took the MRT and got off at Cultural Centre stop. The market is just behind the Esplanade Shopping Mall. Just have to enter the front and exit from the back.

It was however, VERY WARM. And this watermelon smoothie really saved the day(night)!
We ended off waiting for a 2nd floor seat at the Holy Shrimp! - A louisianna seafood place.
I was kind of keen on it because the sauce lookes yummy and you can eat the seafood off the table, with your hands! Look at all these people eating off the table with their hands! Hoooray!! We got some prawns and scallops. They were realllyy yummy, happy. I gave Rot Fai alot of points cos I ate yummy seafood with my hands at a very good price!
Now you see it...
Now you don't...
Then it was back to Hotel and KO.
