Bari Uma Ramen @ United Square

Bari Uma Ramen was established in Hiroshima and has many branches within SE Asia and in HK. Their noodles are made fresh in each shop and soups are delivered from Japan. The name Bari Uma can be translated to 'Super Tasty', and so I should try their ramen! Lol.

I visited the branch at Novena, United Square after work and was greeted enthusiastically when I entered.

Bari Uma's soups are Shoyu, Pork or Chicken Shoyu. I ordered the Nori Tama Uma that is a Pork Shoyu with seaweed and egg. The staff asked me if I wanted beer. I was like.. Oh.. She has telepathic abilities! The nice cold bottled Kirin was on 1 for 1 promotion at $8.90. That's such a good deal! Oh, but I was alone, I couldn't possibly drink 2 on my own... Oh, but I can take one away! And so... It's Kirin Day!! Ha. Ha. Ha.

My Nori Tama Uma!

Look at the chasu! It's grilled!

They were very generous with the seaweed, three big pieces lining the bowl. The Pork Shoyu was hot, thick, creamy and sticky and really.... Good.... It's Super! It's the best thing about this ramen!

According to Bari Uma's website, the thick rich soup consisting of pork knuckles, chicken bones and herbs is simmered slowly for 10 or more hours before Japanese produced tamari soy sauce is added to create the thickest, richest, pork-soy sauce soup you'll ever find. It has a creamy texture that melts in your mouth, with a rich delicious flavour that makes it so tasty you'll soon be craving another bowl. Darn right, I'll say.

The egg had slightly overcooked edges but it was still good and slightly sweet. I liked it. The chasu had a smoky taste, quite yummy. The noodles made in house were slim and straight, with a good texture and bite.

The noodles got abit soft at the end but still held up very well, considering the very hot soup. While eating, I couldn't help noticing the Bari Uma Declaration signboard with appreciation and slight amusement:

  1. We will energetically serve hot RAMEN
  2. We will energetically greet with big and cheerful voice
  3. We will energetically provide cheerful service
  4. We will energetically provide brisk service
  5. We will energetically clean up our restaurant till it shines

I really like sn 1 and 2 and I chuckled at Sn 5. This declaration really sums up everything a person needs in a ramen restaurant!!!! Bari Uma, I'll be baaaaccckkk...
