I visited the branch at Novena, United Square after work and was greeted enthusiastically when I entered.
My Nori Tama Uma!
Look at the chasu! It's grilled!
They were very generous with the seaweed, three big pieces lining the bowl. The Pork Shoyu was hot, thick, creamy and sticky and really.... Good.... It's Super! It's the best thing about this ramen!
According to Bari Uma's website, the thick rich soup consisting of pork knuckles, chicken bones and herbs is simmered slowly for 10 or more hours before Japanese produced tamari soy sauce is added to create the thickest, richest, pork-soy sauce soup you'll ever find. It has a creamy texture that melts in your mouth, with a rich delicious flavour that makes it so tasty you'll soon be craving another bowl. Darn right, I'll say.
The egg had slightly overcooked edges but it was still good and slightly sweet. I liked it. The chasu had a smoky taste, quite yummy. The noodles made in house were slim and straight, with a good texture and bite.
The noodles got abit soft at the end but still held up very well, considering the very hot soup. While eating, I couldn't help noticing the Bari Uma Declaration signboard with appreciation and slight amusement:
- We will energetically serve hot RAMEN
- We will energetically greet with big and cheerful voice
- We will energetically provide cheerful service
- We will energetically provide brisk service
- We will energetically clean up our restaurant till it shines
I really like sn 1 and 2 and I chuckled at Sn 5. This declaration really sums up everything a person needs in a ramen restaurant!!!! Bari Uma, I'll be baaaaccckkk...
