Hong Kong Family Trip 20-23 Oct 2016 Day 1 - Dim Dimsum / The Peak - Trick Eye Musuem

Our flight was an early morning flight and here we are happily checked in and moving towards our gate of departure.

Along the way, we saw Ippudo Express and I just had to get a rice bowl. This is Teriyaki Chicken and for fear of it being to sweet for the parents, I asked for less sauce. Alas, it was a completely wrong decision. Note to self - ask for more sauce next time pls.

From the window of the plane, hooooray!!!!!!!!!!

I ate a yummy bee hoon on SQ but was too busy watching my show to take a photo. I love airplane food! And that's us at the HK airport!

We had wanted to take the train but realised that Uber is cheaper. So we Ubered after buying this 5 day sim card:

The uber pick up point was at the carpark of a hotel beside the airport, and so we walked there, went into the carpark and waited for the car that apparently was nearby yet did not materialise. After a while of waiting, the uber driver cancelled the booking and I was like wth. So I made another booking and walked around the area to ensure we don't miss the car. Soon enough, the car appeared at a pick up point further up and we got on gratefully.

We were staying at an airbnb apt along Fa Yuen Street. The building was called Lee Hing Building and its one of those old school buildings. The airbnb owner picked us up and brought us into the apt. It was older and abit smaller than what I expected. The corridor reminded me of the buildings that the 'Gu Huo Zhai's grandma would stay in. LOL.

I have to say that the apt owner was very friendly and made ua feel welcome on our first day, so thank you! He also provided us information on the upcoming typhoon and that the Dim Dimsum nearby offers 30% discount during tea time on weekdays.

First meal of the trip - Dim Dimsum.

Love it when the milk tea is served like that.

The dim sum arrived pretty fast and we attacked them. I  only snapped a few photos before I put down my phone and demolished them. One of the most outstanding item at Dim Dimsum was the 'Pai Gu', Steamed Pork Ribs with Pumpkin. The pork was served boneless, tender, yummy and the portion was huge.

Siew Mai
Liu Sha Bao, kawaiiiii
Can't recall what this was called but dad liked it
Char Siu Cheong Fun - So Glistening!
This was a yummy and satisfying meal. The parents seemed to like it! After the meal, we proceeded to the Peak via the MTR. We got the Octopus Card for easy commute.

Haha, my favouritest people posing for the camera in the Central MTR station.

So cute!!!
We wanted to experience the Peak Tram up and so walked to the Peak Tram Station. It was quite a distance and the last part was upslope... Like omg.

When we reached the station, it was like another omg. There was a queue to buy tickets and a queue ro get on the tram. While queueing to buy tickets, marmee overheard someone asking about using the Octopus card. We asked the staff and found out that you can use the Octopus card for the tram, and thus we skipped the ticket queue to join the tram queue. Needless to say, I felt like kissing the Octopus card. Though I probably should kiss marmee for noticing.

The queue was cramped with people trying to by pass each other and there was a bunch of korean ladies who kind of got on my nerves with their chatting queue chat move chat queuing until one of the ladies stepped aside to let marmee past and suddenly the bunch of them looked like nice Korean ladies who are respectful to elderly. LOL. Major Bias.

I read many reviews online saying that you should get a seat on the right hand side for a great view and so we were all geared up to grab the right side seats. But really, unless you are right beside the window, it doesn't really matter that much which side you are on.

As we went up, I thought it felt abit like going up in a roller coaster, the part where the cart climbs up to the top, before the screaming starts. It was also fun looking at the sign posts that looked slanted due to the angle we were going up at. The experience however was abit spoilt by 2 middle aged aunties yaking at the top of their voices behind us.

After we reached the top, we crowded together to take a picture and daddy who hates doing 'ma fan' (troublesome) stuff showed it openly in front of the camera. Heh. Heh.

We exited the tram into the Peak Tower. Madame Tussauds is located there and I took a pic with Bruce Lee while family went to the loo.

When we exited the tower to look for the Trick Eye Museum, the parents seemed tired and while they rested on the seats, we walked about and photo-ed around like all these people who got into my pictures.

It was foggy / cloudy that day, sadly but YK got this nice shot

And that's YK looking angst with these photo bombers.

I just cut all of them out LOL.

After some resting, we were ready to go! We got tickets to the Trick Eye Museum and in we went. It was pretty empty, which added to the great fun we had. Thanks Trick Eye Museum for giving us so much fun.

DJ's expression here is so funny LOL!!!!!!!

My tummy and neck nearly cramped while attempting this one. But it's worth it.

This fighter game was SO HILARIOUS. It was like a motion sensored fighting game where you got to beat that bulbous statue on the screen. We just couldn't stop laughing, everyone went up against the animation and all of us just fell about in laughter LOL! Thinking of it now makes me feel like laughing again lolol.

Marmee laughed and laughed at this one since it's probably the first time she's taller than Daddy LOL. Love this shot.

DJ looks so tiny in this shot!!

This aerial yoga shot cracked all of us up in laughter again!! Daddy in tights!!! And YK's expression is SUPER CLASSIC.

Look at YK. Major ROFL.

And we ended off with a family picture. Lolol!! Super fun!!!!

We exited the museum to dark skies and the cool night breeze. The view was beautiful.

We were all tired and wanted to go back by then and so we set off. Getting off the peak seemed to be a challenge. There were long queues for mode of transport down. I thought it would be good for the parents to rest while we queued since the queue wasn't moving fast. DJ had data and stayed w the parents.

I asked YK to queue at the taxi queue and I stood in the bus queue. I was hoping to take taxi because everyone was tired but realised that most taxis wouldn't take 5. Then unexpectedly the bus queue started to move really fast and I had to make DJ and the parents rush down and decide on the mode of transport. There was some unhappiness and tension sadly.

I reflected that I do need to work on being more willing to make decisions while on the bus :( However the good news was that we all got safely back and cos we are family I think there were no lasting hard feelings.. Hehehe.
