Sanpoutei Ramen @ Holland Village

9 Aug 2016.

Sanpoutei serves Niigata style shoyu ramen as its specialty. According to its website, the said shoyu stock is made by stewing a mixture of vegetables, chicken, tonkotsu, two different kinds of dried sardine for six hours.

I was feeling Shoyu-ish and decided to make a trip to Sanpoutei @ Holland Village for its Shoyu ramen! The location was really good, right outside an mrt station exit hurhur.

The service crew was prompt, friendly and polite and I swiftly ordered the Shoyu Ramen, a Butariki mini don and a Umeshu!

Umeshu appeared first, what's there to dislike abiut umeshu?? I love umeshu!

My Shoyu Ramen!

Look at that chasuuuu..... And the thick bamboo shoots!! *heart!!*

Oo, Sanpoutei makes their own noodles in house with a noodle making machine. I was watching the machine in action while fooding. I really liked the noodles. They were soft, smooth, firm, springy and stayed that way till the end. One more special shot of the noodles!! *clap clap clap*

The soup was indeed shoyu, however with a more complex flavour than the usual. I could taste hints of fish in the broth. The bamboo shoots were a delight to bite into, and the chasu looked like it was lightly charred. It was sllliiggghhhtttllyy dry, just a teeeensy leetle bit but was so so soft! Great taste Sanpoutei! The egg however appeared to be a tad overcooked.

The butariki mini don was yummy and the raw egg, meat and rice combi went well together.

But!! Nothing beats the beef bowl i had at Matador Kita Senju omg, that was one crazy mini don.

The tonkotsu was a light broth that is super tasty!! It wasn't tooo thick and I demolished the whole bowl of soup without any reaction and that's something.

I really like Sanpoutei's ramen! Super! There are two branches in Singapore:
